This visa allows eligible applicants to study in Australia for up to five years, depending on the type and duration of the chosen course. In most cases, primary school students enrolled in Years 1 to 4 receive a student visa with a validity of up to three years.

Australia's Student Visa includes several streams designed for different study pathways. Applicants may also combine multiple courses, such as English language programs and vocational education, under a single student visa where eligible.

Student visa holders are generally permitted to work part-time while their course is in session, subject to current work restrictions, and may work full-time during scheduled study breaks. Students wishing to continue their education beyond the visa validity period must apply for a new Student Visa.

If a student visa expires before the completion of a course, applicants may be able to apply for a Visitor Visa (subclass 600), provided they can supply supporting documentation from their education provider confirming the anticipated completion date.

Graduates who have held a student visa and completed an eligible qualification within the previous six months may be able to apply for a Temporary Graduate Visa (subclass 485), subject to meeting the relevant requirements.

Engineering graduates from recognised institutions may also qualify for the Skilled Recognition Graduate Visa (subclass 476). Those intending to remain in Australia for a longer period or for a different purpose should consider applying for the visa that best suits their circumstances.
